CAA
A
Tweet by Chetan Bhagat on CAA/NRC (19th Dec, 2019)
CAA
by itself is not the issue.
But
CAA+NRC is discriminatory, this could happen
NRC:
All prove again you are an Indian
Non-Muslim:
Sir I don’t have documents
Govt:
it’s ok. CAA will save you. You are an Indian
Muslim:
Sir I don’t have documents
Govt:
Too bad, you are not an Indian, Get out.
The tweet says it all. This moment, two decades into
the third millennium the greatest misfortune for India is that it is saddled
with a bag of toxic garbage which goes by the name Narendra Modi with an unholy
friend Amit Shah to boot. It has been coming, the date is fast approaching, it
is almost here- the year 2025. What India is witnessing is the hurried efforts
of RSS and its affiliates to establish Hindu Rashtra before 2025. RSS has kept
a target for themselves to make India into a Hindu Rashtra by the time it
completes the centenary of its founding in 2025.
BJP hand in glove with RSS knows it is their last
chance (with the next elections scheduled for 2024) and they are very close to
it. Several trophies already in their bag, with NRC and CAA they are going for
the kill. Article 370 they have abrogated, triple Talaaq they have done away
with and Ram Temple in Ayodhya is nearly done. Now Muslims as a community is
their arch enemies as conceived by their acharya and ideologue M. S Golwalker
in his ‘We or Our Nationhood Defined’ published in 1939. The book among several
other of his utterance shows their utter contempt for the community. This is
unfortunately the vicious thinking of RSS coming into full play. By 2024 BJP
will look for another head to pilot their dream. This is an effort by Amit Shah
to establish himself as the next contender for the throne. RSS wants the
extreme bigoted Hindutvavadi alone to head their organization. Along this
process Shah is attempting to prove to the RSS masters that he fits the bill.
The nation is in a great churning. In the post CAA,
NRC days it is hard to tell the people that our constitution spells out ‘We the
people……’ and not communities and religions are our identities. The communal
poison that RSS has infused into the body politic of India in the last decades
has done terrible damage and it will take massive efforts at cleansing. But
there is hope for India with the youngsters beginning to see through the RSS
games. They have hit the streets in thousands to proclaim that we will not let
the secular fabric of the country to be tone asunder. They have seen glimpse of
a terrible tomorrow, where detention camps will shelter a section of Indians
like cattle- a scene where Indians will be divided and numbered as communities
with the air thick with enmity, hatred and suspicion of the other. Are we
fearmongers? No, not at all. At a time
Gandhiji, the messiah of ahimsa is traded for his murderer and militant
Hindutva replaces a society, for centuries filled with love, empathy,
hospitality and pluralism into a land of angry mob ready to kill each other- it
is high time we rescue our secular country from zealots and bigots who are sick
with ‘Islamophobia’ and anti-Constitutional values.
Intellectual giants, of course we have many, Nobel
laureates a handful and writers, artists, scholars are mostly in the Anti CAA
camp. True, several among them have not found their voices yet. ‘We shall not
give an inch on CAA’. Time is ripe for the entire nation to roll up their
sleeves and get down to the business of pulling out India from this muck. I am
afraid if we are in a haste to presume our hopelessness before the fear factor
offered by these bills, or comfortably sitting in our easy chairs pretending to
be ignorant of the Damocles’ sword hanging above our head, ready to cut us
apart at any moment. These bills are a gimmick of the government desperate to
blind the citizens on the real issues of economic crisis, unemployment, farmers’
cries, religious persecutions, Kashmir lock down etc. I wonder if all of these
issues had a religion, i.e., if GDP had a religion, or economic crisis had a
holy scripture probably the politicians would have cared for it.
It is a life and death issue. Indeed, with this
dragon, of RSS breathing fire down the nostrils of India, the land is in the
throes of death. ‘We the people’ need to fire all cylinders at the moment to
save the land from their death trap. I believe that these bills are a death
bell for Indian secular democracy. Let me not be a silent partner to this
daylight butchery of Democracy. It would be ruthless to feel OK and be apathetic,
for being a non- Muslim. It is high time, if not acted get ready to be told
‘Get out’ one day. For today it is you and tomorrow it will be me.
