The Unseen Virus

There have been umpteen number of news about the end of the world, once again popping up in the minds of the apprehensive crowd alluding to the outbreak of the pandemic, Corona as a sign per se.  It is fairly long ‘Corona’ has been in everyone’s tip of the tongue and is the talk of the town. The unseen virus has hit us so bad that, people around the world are forced to quarantine themselves owing to the fear of contracting this uninvited guest, Covid-19. It won’t be too overstating to indicate that this unseen virus has already hung the world by a tread. We are fully immersed in thoughts, talks and trepidation, all about this dangerous virus and its repercussions on our race, economy, health system etc. When the early symptoms of the outbreak of this pandemic was flagged to the first world countries by China, the world shied away from it, categorizing the information as a divisive tactics of China.   But today, though not all the countries do not possess the lion share of the victims unlike USA, Italy and Spain; we do have enough causalities to cater to and bear the heat of its rampant nature.
The world has come to an abrupt halt, while the virus has unleashed its horrendous claws on the weak sections of the society, killing them mercilessly. Though the scientists across the world have been burning their night’s oil to find a solution to put an end to this dreaded virus, their efforts haven’t really hit up on a success. Amidst this unprecedented lock- down, two classes of the society; the kids and the teenagers, do not really comprehend the seriousness of social distancing and isolation. When they are forced to stay back indoors, as a result the families often find it a herculean task to handle their toddlers, kids and even the teenagers. It has been two to three weeks, and for a few it’s going to be a month. A never before time for them, to sleep, to watch television and what not. However, these lazy routines which every average child aspire for will bring in them a state or boredom and restlessness. There arise the role of the parents and educators to engage them creatively and constructively. Parents must be able to address their psychological and physical unrest, taking the living example from their own adult life which is also faced with similar feelings.
I feel, being the victims of such an unparalleled lock- down, it is high time for us to improvise our outlook towards our own lives. Being a student, what is bothering me is about a more dangerous virus affecting out teenagers today. The state of NOT BEING AMBITIOUS or rather AMBITIOUS BUT AIMLESS. Teenage, unlike any other stages of life, is a time of curiosity, but where this curiosity ends up really matters. Many of the teenagers prefer to be in a state of hibernation, having no desire to do anything except to vegetate…. well…its ok unless they don’t expect your family and the world to carry them. Teenage is a time for discovery, reflection, adventures and growth. This is a phase of transition for teens so as parents and teachers, they bother to cut some slack for the teens expecting a great deal of return in the future. But going too heedless is like a slap on the beautiful life one has been gifted with. Some teen may have a misconception that his/her intelligence will reach them somewhere someday without much efforts. But the truth is ambition beats genius 99% of the time.
As I mentioned earlier, the unwanted energy produced in the children due to constrain of being within the four walls of the house has to be sublimated creatively. The parents must be able to instill in the kids, be it teenagers or adults, to look for their life’s purpose on this earth. Each one of us has got something to deliver to this universe. Our duty is to contemplate, locate and embrace it. We have got only one life and we should make the most of it. This period of quarantine and lock-down must be a time of discernment and visualization, to think where one wants to see oneself a few years from now, and do whatever it takes to convert that into a reality. Have the fire in your belly, for ambition without action is just a fantasy. As the days to come we must be prepared to encounter many more lock-down and quarantines for today’s world is so crazy and unstable with its core nature of unpredictability added to its daily rhythm of life. The difficult times are in pipeline, wanting to unleash the world with predicaments and problems. But our hope is in today's young generation who can raise up like a phoenix bird form the ashes to life.
